I want more growing up on the farm stories about Grandma and Grandpa...

When my parents were out visiting a few weeks ago I bought some oilcloth to cover my table with while doing things like coloring Easter eggs. Next thing I know Dad (Marv) was holding it up to his nose and drinking in the smell of it. He said his mom always had oilcloth on the kitchen table and it reminded him of growing up. I had no idea but I thought it was a great story and I think of it every time I walk by my table.

So come on guys, throw up a few more quick memories of life growing up. I'll even start you off. Sebastian's favorite story of Grandpa's was when they were milking the cows and used to try to squirt it in the cats' mouths.

Ok, how about all the chickens running free in the yard and hearing the roosters crowing, not only on the morning but whenever they took a notion.

Grandma and Grandpa had a old outhouse on the side of yard not far from the house. Don't know if that was the one Mom told me they used before they added the bathroom inside the house.

I also thought it was cool that Grandma had a laundry chute going down to the basement just off the hallway to the bathroom. Wish Mom had one of those when I was growing up. How easy would of that been to send your laundry down the chute instead of having to gather it out of the hamper? Think a few other items went down that chute besides laundry.

Excellent! I have memories of the farm too but they are all of the Norman and Diane vintage and include the berry buggy and the trampoline. I love getting a new perspective on the place.
