Great pictures Karla! Yesterday in the local newspaper, they had an article about a trick-or-treating tradition in the Des Moines area that I had never heard about and wondered if your kids participated. First of all, they said that the trick-or-treating took place on Begger's Night - October 30, instead of Halloween. And that the kids had to tell a joke before they were given candy. Sounded kind of unusual to me and kind of fun. Here, the trick-or-treating takes place on Halloween and we just hand out the candy. Some of the kids are bigger "hams" than others and will get into talking about their costume. Others are just in a hurry for the candy reward!
It is true, we have Beggars Night on the 30th and the joke thing was new to me as well, loads of jokes, and loads of kids that tell them like my mom does, punch line first. HA.
