Lisa - Summer Vacation 2006

Our summer vacation is being spent in the exotic vacation destination of Storm Lake, Iowa! We are staying at a great resort featuring catered meals, free child care, lake excursions, a little shopping, a backyard pool (3' x 6'), and free party planning services. Yes, we are spending a week here to celebrate my {*choke*} 40th birthday. I'm a little leary of the festivities that are being planned for tomorrow. It seems that Mom (Fran) is having a little too much fun with this one. We may stay for the 4th of July "Star Spangled Spectacular" that Storm Lake always has, which is acutally a lot of fun. All joking aside, we are having a great time here seeing Dawn, Eric, Sebastian, and their new baby Charlotte - she is a little sweetie. It is a full house and everyone is getting along great. (I was talking about the kids.)

Oh, it is true. I did the math. Scarey, huh?

By the way, speaking of birthdays, did anyone realize that Diane is going to have a big birthdy this year also? Six-O!

Happy Birthday Lisa. I'm with Darlene...when the "young" cousins hit the 40's, that doesn't sound real good for the "old enough to remember the farm" cousins!

It's also a big year birthday for Dad (Don). He will turn 70 on August 9.

Elaine's husband Paul is also turning 60 in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know, is there a family picnic planned this year?

Oh, you all are still babies. In less than a year I'll be hitting the big five-O. All the forties made me feel was old, followed by terminally greying hair and suddenly realizing that I am not capable of performing tasks that I was able to do when I was in my thirties. I have to hire out for someone to do them. And then my eyes went bad. I'd like to know what they meant when they say life gets better as you get older. I think I must of missed the meaning to that.

Debbie, You are supposed to tell me all the great things about getting older! Make something up at least! ;-) Hey, I did get one good thing from your post...you at least have the money to hire some stuff done!

Lisa,

I can remember when it use to be fun to be able to do my own projects. Now I have to push myself and it takes me longer to be able to get it done. My mind says yes, but my body later says no. My husband knows first hand on this saying. He broke his ankle jumping off a playset platform about 4 feet off the ground thinking he could make it easily. He required surgery in which the surgeon inserted six pins and a metal plate. He's been off his feet now for a week and will be for at least 3 more. Then he'll be wearing one of those lovely boots.
